Information

Our internship is designed for both veterinary and veterinary technician students. We will give you hands-on experience and teach you how to work with Costa Rican wildlife. As an intern, you will work closely with our wildlife veterinarians and animal care staff. The internship encompasses all aspects of wildlife rehabilitation from intake to release. You will work six days a week and on your day off you have time to relax or explore Costa Rica. A minimum stay of one month is required. The price includes housing, all meals (regular, vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free), and transportation to and from the airport. At the end of your internship, we will provide a completion certificate and a recommendation letter you can use as you continue your studies.

The internship also provides experience with: ▪ Administering fluids ▪ Drawing blood ▪ Cleaning surgical instruments ▪ Practicing syringe and tube feeding techniques ▪ Doing laboratory work (e.g., fecal, urinalysis, preparing lab samples) ▪ Providing enrichment ▪ Practicing proper restraining techniques for mammals, birds, and reptiles ▪ Performing necropsies
