Daniel the kinkajou was found and rescued by firefighters when he was just a baby. The forest he originally lived in was being cleared to build a dam. Kinkajous are arboreal animals, living most of their lives in the trees. When these were cut down for the dam, Daniel’s mother was forced to abandon him to flee the area. This is sadly a very common fate for baby animals in areas of habitat destruction. Now Daniel lives with our other adult kinkajou Neela, enjoying a chilled out life at the Center. He loves being nosey while our volunteers clean his enclosure, often coming down from his branches to say hello. He loves honey and hibiscus flowers as a treat!
