New Arrival: a few weeks old howler orphan
On the second of March a sad message reached us. A female howler and its baby were left from their group. In addition the female howler monkey seemed sick. In the Animal Hospital it turned out they suffered from dehydration because of the drought in Costa Rica right now. The mother died at the same day. But her baby, Luna, made it! Only a few weeks old and already a little fighter! Yesterday we brought her from the Hospital to our Rescue Center and it seemed like the other monkeys already adapted her well. Luna needs special treatment, especially because of her young age, but we want her also to not get used to much to humans but spend time with the other howler monkeys at our Rescue Center. These contacts are very important for her development. Hopefully she will be strong enogh to get released into the wild again.
