Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center

Dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of Costa Rican wildlife.

The Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center is a non-profit organization that gives animals a second chance at life. Our dedicated staff and selfless volunteers work tirelessly to help these animals heal, keep them safe, rehabilitate them, and eventually re-release them into their natural habitat in the Costa Rican rainforest.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

An abandoned baby sloth finds comfort in two donated items: a feeding tube and a teddy bear.

The Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center and the lives of the wildlife we save depends entirely on the generous donations of people like you. We are a small organization with no government help, so any donation, no matter how small, will literally save the life of an orphaned baby monkey, an abused puppy,  injured sloth, or a wingless baby owl.

Your donation will go directly to purchasing ongoing essentials for the animals—fresh fruits and vegetables for the spider monkeys, warm blankets for an ailing baby sloth, emergency medicine for new arrivals, new enclosures for the lifers at the center etc.

THREE WAYS TO DONATE:

1.  DONATE MONEY

Any donation you make can help bring a sick, orphaned animal back to life, and, in many cases, contribute to the survival of some of the world's rarest and most endangered species.

A LITTLE GOES A VERY LONG WAY...

$25 Donation - One day's worth of fruits and vegetables for all the rescue center's animals.

$50 Donation - One month's worth of milk formula and vitamins for five orphaned baby howler monkeys.

$100 Donation - Six months worth of medicine/medical supplies and ointments for up to five burned sloths.

$200 Donation - All building materials for a brand new netted enclosure to house up to four rescued animals. Our animals need space to recover!

For more specific information on larger donations, email us.

The Rescue Center just moved (2016) to a beautiful 4. 5 acre property which will help us guarantee better living conditions for the animals in our care and those to come. This new property has a river, fruit trees, large accommodation for volunteers and workers, a lot of space for bigger enclosures, a pool for turtle rehabilitation and a release area for releasable animals among other great things.
We are constantly building new enclosures and trying to make the center as good as possible for the animals, including a hospital and rehabilitation center. We are a non-governmental organisation (meaning we get no funding from any sections of the government)  so rely only on donations from kind volunteers and donors such as your self.

2.  DONATE SUPPLIES

The Rescue Center is located in the middle of the jungle and does not have access to many medical or building supplies or enrichment materials. Simple items like heating pads, vitamins, blankets, enrichment toys (for rehabilitating monkeys), and enclosure/netting materials are very scarce in our area of Costa Rica and when available can be in very expensive.  For this reason, we depend on donated supplies from generous animal-lovers like you.
Either send an item directly to the center ( a dusty shovel in your garage maybe?), or send to us from Amazon, or even bring it with you when you come visit/volunteer? Perhaps you have an uncle who has a hardwarestore willing to donate?
We are very thankful for any and all donations!
